UW is often regarded as one of the most beautiful college campuses in the nation. In addition to drawing in swarms of tourists every year to see the famous cherry blossom trees bloom, community members say the campus’s lush scenery can provide them with a sense of grounding and escape.

From the walking trails on campus to gardens located right outside academic buildings, UW is unique in that it offers numerous spots to be immersed in nature, according to Kathleen Wolf, a research social scientist in the College of Built Environments.

“There are so many places within campus where people can find a moment of respite, and there are benches about. There are places where one can walk,” Wolf said. “There’s just so many opportunities at the University of Washington.”
